Would you buy a US citizenship?
If you're a US citizen, would you sell your citizenship and then move out of your country? If you're not a US citizen, would you do anything to buy yourself a US citizenship? Another interesting conversation from dNeero.
Before I had the opportunity to go to the US for a two-month training, I've always entertained lofty ambitions and dreams about studying and working there, and ultimately staying there for good. But when I did go and got exposed to life in the US, I can see that it's not as easy or beautiful or warm as it sounds or looks. While the bragging rights are ever tempting (some people are just so easily amazed by the mere mention of America), my stint there has opened my eyes to reality and some interesting revelations.
I'd like to go to the US for vacations, for study opportunities, or for company-funded trips, but to stay there for good even with my family? Uhmmm, I guess I'll pass. There's just no place like Cebu, my home, where people are always warm, friendly and happy despite everything.

I love my country and the ideals it was founded on. Those ideals have eroded away so far I am tempted to leave the country. If the republicans manage to win total control of the government this fall there is a high probability that I may well go to Canada with my family.
Would I sell my citizenship though, that is a tough question. For the right price and the right to move anywhere else I want to go, I may well even if it means I can't ever come back.
True! Theres no place like CEBU where life is not just good but the best! Cebu I miss you! Miss you too Mare!
No place like Cebu, indeed. :-)
