Total bliss with an IT certification
So I wrote that I'm sick, contagious and quarantined at home from my loved ones with only my laptop and the Internet to keep me sane. While I'm not disappointed at this two-week doctor-imposed "freedom" from work, I still can’t shake off the worry of wanting to get my hands on my office computer and into the office network to get some work done from home.
Before I went to the clinic yesterday, I got two very important emails from officemates that would jumpstart a sort of massive amount of work for the next few months. I put that on hold for the mean time because, like I said, I needed to go the clinic for a check-up. When the company doctor told me to take a two-week sick leave, the first thoughts that came to my head was, 1) my family, especially my husband, would be very happy to be spending more time with me, and 2) those two important emails will have to wait for an even more important matter – my health.
I initially thought maybe I could telecommute or connect to the office network and work from home. My manager thought this would be a good idea, too. But unfortunately, my case is not that “grave” to merit a permission from the company to telecommute. They just told me to forget about work for the mean time and concentrate on getting well.
But I can’t "get well" with all these nagging worries at the back of my head about backlog at work. I’m crazy like that. This made me wish I knew all about working remotely and connecting to networks or computers that are connected to the Net. The World Wide Web can only help me so much. I wish I had the knowledge as well as the Cisco certification to back up that knowledge.
The Cisco Learning Network has been known to provide excellent IT training to IT professionals and enthusiasts alike. From IP Networking to Design to Routing and Switching to Wireless LAN, they have various programs to help IT professionals advance their careers. This, in turn, will increase employment opportunities in the field of information technology as well as make IT professionals valuable assets to their own companies. Maybe with that knowledge and certification, I can enjoy full work-from-home bliss even while on quarantine from my illness. Hopefully.
